Amber Myerowitz, M.S., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM), L.Ac.
Amber began her study of the human body at the University at Albany State University of New York where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology. Her knowledge of anatomy and physiology has helped to shape and inform her work as a clinician.
Amber attended the Finger Lakes school of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (FLSAOM) at the New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) where she was president of her class for 3 years and graduated with a Masters of science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Amber is nationally board certified in Acupuncture by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). As an L.Ac. she has in depth training in a diversity of TCM techniques. Her experience is also international, having completed a clinical internship at the hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, China. Amber treats a multitude of conditions, and her goals are to prevent disease and promote health, energy and vitality through a team approach between the patient and practitioner. Additionally she has a special interest in fertility support, chemotherapy support and stress management. Along with her eastern medical knowledge she is a certified chiropractic assistant.
Amber truly enjoys the Maine outdoors. Growing up in the Adirondacks, Amber has found much similarity, and enjoys hiking and days spent out on the water. She enjoys volunteering at various animal shelters and is an advocate for the World Wildlife Fund.
Samantha Gendron, MSAOM, L.A.c., Dipl. OM
Samantha Gendron, MSAOM, L.A.c., Dipl. OM, grew up in Southern Maine. She attended Southern Maine Community College for horticulture and studied holistic health at the University of Southern Maine.
Her interest in acupuncture started when she started receiving treatments to help with symptoms of Lyme disease. Samantha’s acupuncturist inspired her to learn and grow so she could give back and heal the members of her community, which started her journey to the Finger Lakes.
Samantha graduated with honors from the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine of New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, NY. There she completed over 3,000 hours of intense didactic and clinical training to receive both a Master’s of Science in Acupuncture and a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine, as well as a Bachelor’s of Professional Studies. She is nationally accredited from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
While attending NYCC Samantha was inducted into the Phi Chi Omega honor society, remained on the Dean's list every trimester throughout her studies, was the recipient of a Distinguished Service Award, and gave back to the campus community via tutoring, student government, and working in the Admissions Office.
Samantha has experienced clinical training in both the United States and China at the Zhejiang University Hospital in Hangzhou, China. Her studies included lectures and clinical rotations focusing on acupuncture, abdominal microsystems, herbal medicine, tui na, cupping, treatment of facial paralysis, stroke recovery, respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological disorders, and weight loss.
She has practiced in a variety of clinics including the Seneca Falls Health Center, NYCC Campus Health Center, and the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua, NY.
Samantha has now returned home to share her experience and knowledge with the community that helped to shape her into the woman and practitioner she is today.
Karen Monaco, Office Manager
Karen was born in California and was very lucky to have moved around to many different states before her parents retired to Brunswick, Maine. Karen received her Associates degree in Business Management, a Bachelors degree in Healthcare Management and is working on her Masters in Healthcare Management with a concentration in HR management. Karen will also be working on getting certified as a Chiropractic Assistant. She has worked in health care for the last 15 years, in Ophthalmology and Cardiology. Karen has worked in a clinic setting, taught college courses and also worked in management.
Karen joined Cape Chiropractic and Acupuncture in 2016. Most of her time is spent behind the scenes to ensure the practice is running smoothly. She has very high standards when it comes to patient satisfaction, and has a true passion for helping patients.
Karen feels fortunate to live in Coastal Maine and appreciates all the beauty it has to offer. She also enjoys spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Karen is a proud to be apart of CCA and the amazing team.
Erika Souter, Patient Care Coordinator
Erika is a Mainer through and through. Born and raised in Cape Elizabeth, she attended the Cape School systems from Pond Cove Elementary through Cape High School. In her mid twenties she moved to surrounding towns, but was always drawn back home. At 20 years old she became a Certified Nurses Assistant through Southern Maine Community College and started working at a nursing home in Falmouth. Her love for her residents kept her there for the next 8 years. Following that she earned an Associates degree in Medical Assisting and worked in the department of Employee Health at Maine Medical Center. In September of 2015 Erika started working at Cape Chiropractic and Acupuncture and immediately fell in love with the tranquil atmosphere and friendly staff. Some of Erika’s passions outside of work include fishing, gardening, pottery, photography and working on building a house and home here in Cape Elizabeth.
Alex Perdomo, Patient Care Coordinator
Alex was born and raised by the water in Portland, Maine. She grew up playing sports; field hockey, ice hockey and softball while enjoying the outdoors. After graduating from Portland High School she went on to Study Social Work at the University of Southern Maine. While at USM, She played softball for four years along with volunteering her time coaching a local girls Ice hockey team. After college, Alex became the Assistant Director of child care at the YMCA of Southern Maine while running an after school program for at risk teens in the portland area. After leaving the YMCA, she continued her work in Human Services with many different populations that included the elderly along with mental and behavioral health. Alex came to CCA as a certified CPR/First Aid instructor and is now a certified Chiropractic Assistant.
Outside of CCA, Alex enjoys photography and traveling around Southern Maine to take photos of Maine scenery. She has recently found a new love for working out and has made many life changes to improve herself. Alex recently completed her first 5K and hopes to compete in her first triathlon next summer. She is very excited to continue her volunteer work as a staff member at CCA and continue to spread the word about the great services CCA has to offer.
